Know your vegetable

 Interesting facts of vegetables-
Being born and brought up in Southern part of India with my mother being a fussy eater (she hated eating vegetables) I hardly got to eat or see some of the veggie which were abundant in the market. Only vegetables with letter C  (carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, chayote squash and capsicum) and french beans found it's way into our lunch and dinner. When I started cooking I was always curious about the other veggies that I missed out eating.
When I shifted to Mumbai after marriage, I came across many more vegetables (red carrots, tinda (apple gourd), turnip, mustard leaves, lotus roots, water chestnut and lot more). These vegetables are now available in South India too.
Whenever I travel I try to eat and learn about new veggies. Fiddle head ferns found in eastern part of India was a pleasant surprise to me.
Since few years purple cabbage, broccoli, zucchini etc are available in all Indian cities. It has become very interesting and enjoyable to cook with so many varieties of veggies.
Each vegetable is different in its shape, color, taste, smell and all have some interesting facts. I will be updating any interesting things about them here.
